Hello, my name is Gina Willocks, and I am the school Health Technician. I have a B.S. in Kinesiology from Cal State University Long Beach, with an emphasis in exercise science and over 15 years of experience working as a Health Technician for elementary schools. The health and safety of your child is very important to us here at Allegiance STEAM Academy Thrive. I look forward to working with your family in order to provide a healthy and safe environment for your child. Please inform us of any health problems or concerns you have regarding your child.

    • The child has a fever with a temperature above 100 degrees. The child should stay home until the temperature is normal for 24 hours, without taking fever reducing medication (i.e. Tylenol, Ibuprofen, etc.).  Normal temperatures vary per person, but the average is 98.6.
    • The child has vomiting and/or diarrhea. The child should stay home for 24 hours after last episode before returning to school. Twenty-four hours at home without vomiting or diarrhea before can return to school.
    • The child has a rash with fever. In this case the child should be examined by a doctor and be cleared by the doctor before returning to school.
    • The whites of the child’s eyes are pink or red, and there is white/yellow drainage present. The child may also have matted eyelids after sleep and eye pain or redness of the eyelids or skin around eye. These are signs of bacterial infection, (i.e. pink eye) and the child should not return to school until they have been on medication for 24 hours.
    • The child has been diagnosed with Impetigo, until 24 hours after treatment has been started.
    • The child has been diagnosed with Strep Throat, until 24 hours after treatment has been started.
    • If the child has head lice, the child will not be allowed back in school until lice treatment has been applied.
    • The child has been diagnosed with Scabies, until after treatment has been given.
    • The child has been diagnosed with Chickenpox, until cleared by a physician.
  • Please contact our school office if your child will be absent by any of the following methods:

    Phone: (909) 465-5405

  • For most illnesses, including infectious diseases, a doctor’s note is NOT necessary for returning to school.

In general, a child can return when they meet ALL the following conditions:

    1. Symptoms are improving and the child is feeling better and can meaningfully participate in routine child care/school activities.

    2. Staff can meet child’s care needs without compromising the health and safety of other children and staff.

    3. Specific symptoms (like fever or vomiting) have met return recommendations: sign/symptom guidance table when to keep your child  home.

Health Office Medication Policy

In order to better serve your child, it is important that you contact the health office with any health concerns. If your child requires medication while at school, whether it is prescription or over the counter, your child MUST have a Medication Administration Form signed by a doctor and the parent. This policy is derived from state law and is intended to protect the child’s health by involving the physician in all medication matters. Please see all forms listed below.
